“Loans help a lot of people go through college, but they’re something that should be entered into very smartly. The key is to take out only what a student really needs to finance their college education.” - ALICIA KORNOWA, DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS AND RECRUITMENT FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI (Held, 2016, p. 12).   Although it may be tempting to borrow as much as you are offered, students will be in a much better financial position if they choose to borrow the least amount possible.  Held (2016) recommends that students "be sure to ask plenty of questions so [they] understand the terms, interest rates, fees, and special conditions and are confident [they'll] be able to pay it back."
